Kong is trained as a biomedical engineer and a clinical investigator (from Vanderbilt University). He is a senior clinical investigator and chief of Energy Metabolism Section in the Diabetes, Endocrinology, and Obesity Branch, and director of Human Energy & Body Weight Regulation Core of the NIDDK Intramural Research Program. He co-directs the Metabolic Clinical Research Unit at the NIH Clinical Center in Bethesda Maryland. Kong’s research focus is advancing sensor technologies and analytical methods to monitor free-living physical activity and sleep and understanding physiological mechanisms of regulating energy balance and body weight in humans.
