Dr. Joshua D. Miller is the Assistant Dean for Clinical Integration and Medical Director of Diabetes Care for Stony Brook Medicine and an Assistant Professor of Endocrinology & Metabolism in the Department of Medicine. He is dual board-certified in Internal Medicine and Endocrinology, Diabetes & Metabolism. Dr. Miller has vast experience helping people with diabetes to conquer the challenges of livingwith the disease; he has been living with type 1 diabetes for over twenty years. In leading Stony Brook's efforts in diabetes care, Dr. Miller has transformed, developed and cultivated a comprehensive diabetes program to align the institution with national best practices, resulting in an annual net savings of over $7.2 million to the health system. Dr. Miller has a strong interest in population health and chronic disease. In his role as Assistant Dean, he oversees Stony Brook Medicine's Clinically Integrated Network, leading institutional initiatives to serve the people of Long Island as the area's premier academic medical center and health system; he is the Medical Director of Stony Brook Medicine’s Accountable Care Organization (ACO). Dr. Miller also serves as President of the American Diabetes Association Long Island Community Leadership Board and is a member of the American Diabetes Association’s National Volunteer Engagement Council. A Long Island native, Dr. Miller studied at the University of Rochester where he received his undergraduate, graduate and medical education as well as Certificates in Patient Safety, and Health & Aging. He completed Internship and Residency in Internal Medicine at Mount Sinai Medical Center and Fellowship in Endocrinology, Diabetes and Metabolism at Columbia University/NY Presbyterian Hospital where he was the Swanson Fellow in Diabetes.
