Peggy is the Program Coordinator and Assistant Nurse Manager for Pediatric Endocrinology at Cohen Children's Medical Center, part of Northwell Health in New York. She coordinates diabetes care for children as both in-patient and out-patient. She initiated an insulin pump program which has successfully placed hundreds of children on insulin pumps and glucose sensors. She is the Long Island Advocacy Chair for the ADA, teaching classes for families as well as professionals to ensure safety and wellness in the community and school. Peggy has gone to Albany to lobby for Safe at School and continues to meet with politicians regularly to engage their support with diabetes issues and concerns. Peggy is research investigator for several diabetes studies. 2016 as the Immediate Past President of the Metropolitan NY AADE and presently the Chair Elect for the NYSCB. She has published and co-authored several articles and abstracts which have been presented at both national and international conferences. Several awards include Diabetes Educator of the Year, Employee of the Month, Diabetes Team of the Year, Distinguished Service Award by the Diabetes Research Institute 2015 and Employee Recognistion by Northwell Health, 2016.Her past nursing experience includes intensive care nursing, dialysis nursing, diabetes camp nursing and pediatric endocrinology.On a personal level, Peggy has been living with type 1 diabetes for approximately 40 years and pumping insulin for more than 30 years. Peggy is also a professional belly dancer; never letting her love of dance interfere with managing her diabetes.
