Mark Arnold, PhD
University of Iowa, Iowa City, Iowa
Mark Arnold is the Edwin B. Green Chair Professor of Laser Chemistry and the Director of the Center for Biocatalysis and Bioprocessing at the University of Iowa. He earned his doctorate degree in analytical chemistry from the University of Delaware and has since been a member of the faculty in the Department of Chemistry. His research interests center on the development of chemical sensors for real-time monitoring of complex biological systems. Current research efforts focus on the use of near infrared spectroscopy for the measurement of glucose in people with diabetes as well as for continuous monitoring of bioreactor systems. The overarching objective, in both cases, is to improve long-term outcomes through analytical control.
