Matthias Heschel (PhD) is Vice President, Research & Development and Intellectual Property Rights, at Convatec’s Infusion Care franchise, formerly Unomedical. In his role, Dr. Heschel drives technology and product development for next generation infusion technology, focusing on robust, easy-to-use solutions suitable for extended wear, closed-loop systems. He has been with the company since 2011.

Dr. Heschel received a M. Sc. degree from Technical University Chemnitz, Germany, and a Ph.D degree from Technical University of Denmark, Denmark, both in Electrical Engineering. Prior to his assignment in Convatec, he assumed the position of Vice President R&D at Hymite A/S, a provider of advanced encapsulation technologies for health care and other applications.

Dr. Heschel has authored or co-authored numerous publications and is named inventor on 20+ US and international patents.
