Michael Riddell is a Professor in the School of Kinesiology and Health Science and Muscle Health Research Centre at York University in Toronto. Michael obtained his PhD in Physiology/Pharmacology at McMaster University on energy metabolism in diabetes during exercise and did his post-doctoral work in the Department of Physiology at the University of Toronto under the supervision of Dr. Mladen Vranic, a student of the World-famous Charles H. Best. Dr. Riddell's research team uses a broad selection of innovative models and techniques to discover how regular exercise, stress and diabetes influence metabolism and health in diabetes. Dr. Riddell has authored over 250 scientific articles related to exercise, stress and metabolism and he is also a frequent speaker on the role of technology for helping make exercise safer and more effective for people living with type 1 or type 2 diabetes.
