Dr. Jagdeesh Ullal is an Associate Professor of Medicine at the University of Pittsburgh and the Director of the Inpatient Endocrinology program, and the unit lead for Subspecialty diabetes at the UPMC Center for Diabetes and Endocrinology. He got his medical degree at Kasturba Medical College in India, a Master’s degree in Biomedical research, residency, and a fellowship at Eastern Virginia Medical School. He is the co-chair of the UPMC Diabetes Patient Safety Committee. He has expertise in the electronic glucose management and management of diabetic ketoacidosis. His subspecialty focus is treating type 1 and type 2 diabetes, and he specializes in Cystic fibrosis-related endocrinopathies. He is funded through the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation to develop a CF-related endocrinology clinic and advance research in Cystic fibrosis. He is conducting stem cell clinical trials in type 1 diabetes. He sits on the total pancreatectomy islet cell transplantation committee and works closely with transplant surgery on diabetes-related projects. He is the director of the student endocrinology electives and is closely involved with resident and fellow education.
